Who is SMI?

We are an independent, family-owned UK manufacturing company which specialises in finding simple solutions to temperature maintenance problems, helping clients to reduce carbon footprint, save money and energy in the process. We are constantly pushing the boundaries of thermal protection innovation – and providing a friendly, flexible and top-quality service.

What is Tempro?

A ground-breaking thermal insulation product range which acts as a barrier material, reducing convection and preventing warm air from mixing freely with cold air by creating energy-efficient insulating gaps. Tempro's unique and fire-resistant make-up means it continues to provide outstanding thermal protection for its entire lifetime.

What sets Tempro apart from its rivals?

We were the first company to design thermally insulated curtains and we believe it still has no real rivals. Tempro remains unchallenged as the world’s thinnest and most thermally efficient material of its kind – and has been scientifically proven to cut energy loss between 25% and 60%, dependant on product/environment used, and will support in reducing your carbon footprint.

Can SMI fulfil all bespoke requirements?

Yes. Although you will find a series of standard sizes for most of our ranges, we can create Tempro-insulated products of all shapes, sizes and colours for customer requirements, from huge Temperature Controlled Zones to fill aircraft hangars, down to food box liners.

Where are SMI products manufactured?

We are proud to be a British based manufacturing company, with our own in-house production team in Telford, Shropshire.

How long will it take for our order to be delivered?

This depends on whether it is a stocked or bespoke product. Stocked products would normally be shipped on the next working day. Bespoke products will be advised of lead time, once the order has been placed.

Can we see the products for ourselves?

Yes. We have an interactive product showroom at our Telford headquarters which you are welcome to visit. Please contact us to arrange an appointment.

Can you come to our premises to assess our requirements?

Yes. The SMI team will work alongside customers and contractors to ascertain the requirements needed with any of our products, offering a chargeable on-site full survey when needed. Any subsequent order placed following a site survey, will have a discount applied. Alternatively you can complete a virtual site survey using the relevant virtual survey form, which can be found on the product page.

How can we assess the thermal properties of products?

SMI can provide thermal imaging of products, whether they be SMI's own products or others you currently operate with. SMI also conducts independent testing of our own products.

Which sectors are your products best suited for?

The sectors SMI can cover are endless. Whether it be for hot or cold protection, SMI's Tempro range of products are used across a wide range of industries including the food and logistics sectors, plus the Ministry of Defence, vets, pharmaceuticals and the National Health Service. Curtains for cold rooms . . . thermal covers for pallets and roll cages . . . temporary cold rooms . . . they’re all taking advantage of the super savings it provides. We are also working closely with the funeral industry on the supply of flexible mortuary units.
